#OBSIDIO Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway

We are as excited as our favorite artificial intelligence, AIDAN (okay, he may not be too excitable, let’s face it), would be at the thought of reading the last installment of the Illuminae Files, the much awaited, OBSIDIAN. Many thanks to Rockstar Book Tours for giving us a tour stop and a chance to host a giveaway (scroll down below for details!).

But first, let me gather my thoughts on the story. WHOA. What a ride. All three of these installments are filled with memorable characters and plots that just spiral from one climactic moments to the next. Amy and Jay saved the very best plot for last. We know the cast of characters all too well. My favorite AI, “Am I Not Merciful” AIDAN is back and he is menacingly unreliable. Kady, Ezra, Hanna and Nik all play key roles in an inevitable showdown with BeiTech will leave your heart thumping. Plus, we meet two new characters, Asha and Rhys, who round out the group nicely.

Get ready for some major plot twists and reveals. My heart has yet, to recover from those. And oh, are you ever in for a treat if you choose to listen to the audiobook. The full cast is back in all their glory. The audiobook becomes like the audio feed of a movie and with the help of the cast and special effects, you really do feel the tension, the drama and the sense of foreboding that you would expect in the last novel of a sci-fi, whizbang story.

There’s a reason why this book with its unique graphic format of log entries, ship schematics, interview excerpts and redacted chat logs reads so very fast. And that reason is simple — you will care so very much for these characters and their predicaments that tension, alone, will make the pages fly.

If you haven’t checked out this series, yet, drop everything and grab all three volumes right away. Trust me, you will want to keep reading until the very last page is turned.

Read the New York Times bestselling blockbuster that critics are calling -out-of-this-world awesome.- The first in an epic sci-fi series unlike anything else out there.

Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the worst thing she’d ever been through. That was before her planet was invaded. Now, with enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra are forced to fight their way onto one of the evacuating craft, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But the warship could be the least of their problems. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their biggest threat; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady plunges into a web of data hacking to get to the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: Ezra.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents–including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more–Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.

The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.

Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.

When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.

But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
